This is a picture of the kidney stone that was removed from
Gidget on Wednesday. That is a regular size bic lighter next
to it. The stone is kinda flat. About the same thickness as the
lighter. Gidget weighs 20 pounds. Her bladder can't be much
bigger than that stone. Can you imagine how that must have
felt? The poor girl thought that she constantly had to pee. I
have no idea how she was able to sleep through the night
feeling like that. But somehow she did.

Gidget, you are quite the trooper. Now hurry up
and get better so we can play again!

Kidney Boulders

Hi everydoggy, Duke here.

Well, my poor sister Gidget was back at the vet again.
Apparently, she somehow got rocks in her belly and she
had to have them removed. Mom says they are called
kidney stones, but based on the one they brought home,
I would call them kidney boulders. This thing was huge!
It was almost as big as Gidgey's head! Well, maybe not,
but it was about the size of a fifty cent piece. I have no
idea how that little girl got something so big in her belly!

I really wish Gidget would stop getting sick all the time.
I was freaked out while she was gone. I kept looking
everywhere for her. I could smell her, but I couldn't find
her. I had nodoggy to cuddle with, nodoggy to play with,
nodoggy to bark with. It was horrible! Why would she go
away and leave me all alone? That Gidget sure is selfish!

Now she is home and resting comfortably in her own bed.
Unfortunately, she can't run around or play with me for
two weeks! That's like 4 years in dog time. Or something
like that. Whatever it is, it's way too long. Hurry up and
get better Gidget. And take off those darn diapers.
It's embarrassing.....

Mom and Dad went out a while ago, and when they
came home they smelled like these guys.....

We are not real sure what angers us more. The fact that
they were cheating on us with other dogs, or that they didn't
bring any of them home for us to play with. Grrrr....

Hi Everydoggy, Gidget here.

We just wanted to check in and let you all know that
we are alive and well. We have been busy hibernating
so we haven't had a chance to update the blog lately.
We usually get more active once the weather warms up.

It snows a lot here at our new home. In fact it is snowing
right now. That means I will be holding my pee until Daddy
shovels me a path in the snow. Actually, we don't hate the
snow nearly as much as we hate the rain. As long as we
remember to stay on the path.

More New Pals

Hi everydoggy, Gidget here. Today, I would like to introduce you to
some more of our new pals. This time, of the four legged variety.

This is Cocoa and Dakota, and they live in our yard. At least
I think they do, cuz they always seem to be right outside our
door. We have played with them a couple times, but I don't
think our mom will let us do that anymore, cuz Duke tried
to pick a fight with Dakota. What a moron that Dukie is.
I mean, Dakota outweighs him by like a thousand pounds.
Why does Duke always have to ruin my fun?

to our new bestest buddy. Jason!

Jason slept over at our house last night and we had lots of
fun. We played Wii and we watched movies with him. We

Duke: Because we have been busy Gidget.

Duke: Now that Pug(s) and Bugg told us where we are, we
have been busy getting acclimated to our new
surroundings.
Gidget: Huh? What does that mean?
Duke: It means we have been getting used to our new
home, Einstein.
Gidget: Well why didn't you just say that then?
Duke: Sorry, I forgot who I was talking to for a minute.
Gidget: Very funny. Why do we need to get ack-li-materd?
Duke: It's acclimated. And it's something that dogs do when
they move to a new place. We've got a new yard
to explore, new walking trails to walk on, new

can test them and find out for sure.

"accidentally" scratch him on the leg.

Duke: We need to see what color his blood is. If it's
red, he is probably human. But if it's green,
he is probably an alien!

change. Everything else did. And then, things

started getting REALLY weird.....

Hi everydoggy, Gidget here. It's been a pretty exciting couple
of weeks here at the Duke and Gidget household. It all started
the weekend before last when The Crazy Man Who Lives Next
Door invited us over for a backyard fire. We just love the
Crazy Man, so we were very excited to go.

Our old pal Kahlua was there, so we spent some time catching
up with her. And we also made a new friend. Her name is
Jessica, but from now on we are going to be calling her
The (somewhat) Crazy Lady Who Lives Next Door. That's
right, The Crazy Man finally got hooked up. We are very
happy for him, but I must admit I am just a little bit
jealous. I always thought The Crazy Man was sweet on me.

So anyways, I was sniffing around The Crazy Man's deck,
just minding my own business, when suddenly I looked up
and realized that just on the other side of the glass door
was a cat! I had never seen a cat in person before, but I
have seen some on TV. So needless to say, I went ballistic,
barking up a storm and scratching at the door. When Duke
heard all the commotion he came running up and joined me.
The cat just sat there and hissed at us. I don't know why
he did that, I just wanted to play with it. I suspect Duke had
more devious plans though.

So as if that wasn't enough excitement for one pug, a
couple days later we were taking a walk around the
neighborhood, and I saw another cat! I was just walking
up the sidewalk, and he came out from behind a recycling
bin. We were nose to nose. And this time there was no
glass door to separate us. I think he was just as shocked
as I was. We both just stood there for a couple seconds
looking at each other, but then the cat must have realized
what was going on, cuz he took off running. I tried to run
after him, but unfortunately I was on a leash. So I didn't
get very far. And the funniest part about it was that Duke
never even saw the cat. It all happened so fast that he
never even realized what happened. When I told him
about it later, he said the cat was lucky he didn't see it.
Personally, I think the cat could take him.

So anyways, that is what we have been up to lately.
Sniffin' butts and chasing cats. Yep, it is definitely as
much fun as it sounds!

Cold Box Tagged

We've been Cold Box Tagged! And while that sounds pretty
painful, it really isn't that bad. We just have to show a picture
of our fridge, and tell you about something on the outside
and something on the inside of it. There are some other
rules too, but we just don't do very well with rules.
So, in all its glory, we proudly present our fridge.

On the outside there are two pug magnets, a Seahawks
schedule, some magnets from some of the trips
Mom & Dad have been on, and numerous photos of
cousins, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles,
grandpas and grandmas.

On the inside there is a whole lot of food that we can't
have, but there is also something in there we can have.
FROSTY PAWS! We just LOVE Frosty Paws In fact,
we'd like one right now please!

In other news, we won an award! Our pal Rachel from
Ladypug Mugs has bestowed upon us the "Brilliant Weblog"
award, and we couldn't be happier. Thanks so much Rachel!

Now, we realize there are some rules that go along with
winning this award, but as we said before, we are no good

Home Sweet Home

Hi Everydoggy! My sister Gidget and I are back from our
vacation at Doggy Haven, and boy are we tired! We actually
got back yesterday morning, and we have been sleeping
ever since. We had tons of fun playing with all the other
doggies there, but it sure is good to be back home.

Actually, we were beginning to wonder if Mom & Dad
were ever going to come back for us, but of course
they did. And for some reason they seemed just as
tired as we were. I guess they had a lot of fun in
Lost Wages Nevada. In fact, they had so much fun
that Dad is going to be cleaning up poop at
Doggy Haven for the next three months to pay for
our stay. Now I know why they call it Lost Wages.

Catching Up

Hi everydoggy, Gidget here. First I want to say thanks for all
the kind words everydoggy left me about all of my health
problems. And thanks for all the awesome "welcome back's"
that we got. That sure made us feel good. And a special
thanks to our best buddy Winston for the awesome
post he put up about us. You totally rock dude!

Some of you have asked how my knee is doing. A few month's
back it was giving me some problems, and the doctor said
they would probably have to operate on my patella. Well I'm
happy to report that it hasn't given me any trouble in a long,
long time. So we have decided to just put that off indefinitely.
That sounds like a great idea to me. The last thing I want is
more surgery, especially after the last one I had. Apparently
my heart rate dropped really low, and they had to in-too-bait
me. I'm not real sure what that means, but it scared Mom and
Dad quite a bit. But then again, they do scare pretty easily.

In other news, we are pretty sure the video we sent in to
"America's Funniest Home Videos" has not aired yet. They
said they would contact us before it aired, and we never
did hear from them. But we did hear that next year
they are going to be doing a special show devoted
to pugs, so we are hoping to be included. But even if
we aren't that sure sounds like a fun show to watch!

And now, we are off to the vet yet again. But this time, it's for
a good reason. We have to get caught up on all our shots so
that we can go to Doggy Haven for a few days next month.
Mom and Dad are going to someplace called "Lost Wages
Nevada". Apparently there is a a giant pit there that you can
throw all of your money in to. Sounds like fun. But not as much
fun as we are going to have at Doggy Haven. WOO HOO, we
can't wait! It sure is good to be healthy for a change!

Hey! We're Still Here!

Wow. That sure was a long nap.

Uhmmm, hi everydoggy. Duke here. We're real sorry if anybody has
been worried about us. Cuz we are just fine. Well, mostly fine, but I'll
get to that later.

We've pretty much just been hanging out on the couch, getting
some much needed R&R.

We even spent some time hanging out on The Crazy Man Who
Lives Next Door's daughter. Her name is Jordan. We love playing
with her almost as much as we love sleeping on her.

Oh, and we both had birthdays! I turned 5, and Gidget is now 6!
She's going to be needing some doggy Geritol real soon.

Unfortunately, we have had a few health problems since we last
talked to everydoggy. But what do you expect, we're pugs. Mine
wasn't that big of a deal. I just had an infection in one of my face
folds, and I had to wear a cone for a week.

Gidget, on the other hand, has not been so fortunate. First she
got an infection in one of her anal glands, and her butt swelled
up like a big red tomato. They had to do emergency surgery on
it. I told Mom & Dad that they should make her wear a cone on
her butt, but they wouldn't go for it.

Right about the time her booty got all healed up, Dad noticed
a bump on her left shoulder. It was right in the same area where
she had a tumor removed a couple of years ago, so off to the Vet
she went again. Sure enough, it was another tumor, so poor
Gidgey had to be operated on again. This is what she looked
like right after the surgery.

And this is what she looked like two weeks later after she had
her stitches removed.

A couple weeks after that, she looked much better, and she
was starting to get a little stir crazy, so Mom & Dad decided
she was well enough to go for a walk.

When we got back from the walk, we noticed that she was
limping a little bit. Sure enough, she had a big chunk taken
out of one of her paw pads. So then she looked like this.

And now, finally, her paw is all healed up and she is doing
much better. And we have even been able to play outside
and enjoy the nice weather we have been having.

So in a nutshell, that's pretty much what we have been up to.
Again, we're real sorry that it has been so long since our last
post, but it is not our fault. We are blaming it all on The Crazy
Man Who Lives Next Door. He kidnapped us and held us for
ransom. And that's our story and we're sticking to it!

or shows our personality. We are really sorry we took so

I would definitely be a Hummer H3. I might be a
little bit smaller, but I'm still tough as nails!

Herbie the Love Bug. She's cute, and sweet, and kinda
round, but she'll still run your butt over if you anger her.
This I know from personal experience.

Monday Night Videos: Gidgey The Guard Dog

We know what you're thinking. You're thinking "all they ever do anymore is post videos on Monday nights". In fact, we are seriously considering changing the name of this blog to "A Tail Of Monday Night Videos". But seriously, we apologize (yet again) for our lack of posts recently, and we promise to get back to a more frequent posting schedule very soon. But in the meantime, here's a quick update on what we have been doing.

My knee is feeling much better, and we are still putting off my surgery until Daddy can get some time off work. Lately, he has been working like 30 hours a day, and it is very hard for him to get any time off. Interestingly enough, this also has a lot to do with why we haven't been posting more frequently lately.

We still haven't met the neighbor dog Brodie, and it now looks like we never will. Duke and Brodie are still acting like they want to kill each other through the fence, and then last week Brodie tried to take a chunk out of our daddy's hand. We think he might have just confused his hand for a ham sandwich (Duke has done this many times), but we aren't going to take any chances. We will just have to be content to bark at him through the fence.

We haven't heard back from America's Funniest Home Video's yet, and we aren't holding our breath either. We have done a little research on just what it means when they send you a release form to fill out, and near as we can tell, it means that our video will get aired, however there is no telling when that will happen. It could be five weeks from now, or it could be five years from now. So we are just going to be patient and wait to hear from them. We'll be sure to let everydoggy know if we ever get an air date.

Other than that, we have just been doing normal pug stuff. Wrestling with Daddy, barking at Mommy, and watching football with The Crazy Man Who Lives Next Door. Unfortunately, our Seahawks haven't been doing so well lately, so watching football hasn't been as fun as it was last year. But at least we still score lots of food that The Crazy Man spills. Now, on to the video.

Frog Invasion

We have been invaded. There are a bunch of these strange little creatures living in our backyard. Our Daddy says they are called tree frogs, and this past weekend there were about thirty of them hanging out in our garden and on our fence. Apparently they are our friends because they eat mosquitoes. And we HATE mosquitoes! Whatever they are, it's a good thing for them that they are green, because Duke can't see them. If he could, he would probably turn them into an after dinner snack. We've heard frog legs are quite tasty.

We're Back!

Hey everydoggy, Gidget here. We realize it's been quite a while since our last real post, so we wanted to give everydoggy a quick update and let you all know what we've been up to. Mostly, we've just been hanging out with Mommy and Daddy enjoying the end of summer. We really wish summer didn't have to end, but at least it means we get to watch football every Sunday with our Daddy and the Crazy Man Who Lives Next Door. We love doing that because The Crazy Man tends to drink too much beer and spill his food. Yum!

We still haven't met our new neighbor Brody, and I am starting to think that it might never happen. Brody and Duke have had quite a few very animated "conversations" through the fence, and quite frankly, it has everybody a little freaked out. So we're just gonna play it by ear, and wait and see if things don't calm down a bit between these two Alpha males.

A few of you have asked about my knee recently. I am very happy to report that it has been feeling much better lately. In fact, I have even been able to chase Duke around the house a few times. I still plan on having the surgery, but we might just wait until after Christmas to get it done. As long as it doesn't start popping out all over the place again, that is. Thanks for everydoggies concern, I really appreciate it!

And now for our really big news. We might just be jumping the gun a little bit by telling everydoggy this, but we're just so excited that we can't help ourselves. A couple weeks ago, we sent a few of our videos into America's Funniest Home Videos, and yesterday, we received a release form from them that we have to fill out and put our paw prints on. We even have to get The Crazy Man Who Lives Next Door to put his paw print on it, because he can be heard laughing in the background. We are currently in negotiations with The Crazy Man's lawyer, and we have offered him two slightly chewed nyla bones and a bag of Breath Buster doggy treats (he could really use those) if he puts his paw print on it, and we're pretty sure that he will accept. Now we realize that this doesn't necessarily mean that we will be on the show, but we are pretty darn excited to know that they are even considering it. So who knows, Duke and I just might be TV stars soon. I just hope it doesn't make Duke's head swell up any bigger than it already is. If it does, Mommy and Daddy just might have to widen the doorways a little bit. We'll be sure to keep everydoggy updated when we hear more about this.

Whew, that was a really long post. I had better go nap now.

Sleepover

Since we have been such good dogs lately, Mom & Dad are letting us have our cousin Keith over for a sleepover Saturday night. And it's just gonna be the three of us, cuz Mom & Dad are going out of town. Something about an anniversary I think. But that's not important. The only thing we care about is that we get to party with our cousin Keith. And Gidget and I couldn't be happier. We just love Keith, and we know it's going to be a great time. I have got all my toys lined up ready to show him, and I even made a special poop just for him. It is one of my best poops ever, and it even has what looks like an eye in it. Yep, it sure is a masterpiece. I just can't wait to show it to him. I sure hope he likes it!

In other news, our photo is the featured pic in this weeks "Create A Caption" game over at Balboa's place. If you haven't played yet, we encourage everydoggie to head on over there and create a caption for us. We can't wait to see who the winner is.

One Eyed Lion

Me and my big mouth! I had to go and blog about how my little lion was my most favoritest toy in the world. Well, as soon as Duke got wind of that, he decided to make it his mission to destroy my lion. And last night he succeeded. He ripped off my poor lions eye and ate it! That darn Dukie! And now Mommy wants to throw it away cuz she thinks he will eat the stuffing next. I think we should just hide the lion for a couple days, and as soon as Duke poops the eye out, we sew it back on. Before we address Suki's tag, I would like to set the record straight regarding some comments my dumb sister Gidget made about me getting dumped by Suki. Sometimes I think Gidget is living in her own little fantasy land, because nothing could be further from the truth. Suki and I are just good friends. I think it's great that she has a wonderful boyfriend who showers her with gifts. I couldn't be happier for her. Personally, I'm not so much into the whole gift giving thing. I would have just kept all those toys and treats for myself anyway. And besides, I don't need no girlfriend. I am the Alpha dog, and all I need are my toys and my treats and I'll be just fine. Oh, and I also need my thermos. Duke Out

We've been tagged by our pal Suki, to share our favoritest things with you. So, here goes!

1. Where is your favorite place to sleep?
Definitely on the big bed, with a human wedged between us. Honorable mention goes to the couch, the recliner, and Gidget's new bed.

2. Is there a specific trick your humans make you do to get treats?
Tricks? Yeah right, don't be ridiculous!

3.If you could spend an entire day doing anything at all with anyone, what would it be and who would it be with?
Our perfect day would start very early. We would wake up Dad and make him feed us a big breakfast, followed by frosty paws for dessert. After breakfast we would nap for a couple hours to get our energy back, then we would pile into the car with Mom & Dad and head to a pug meetup. After the meetup, we would come back home and invite The Crazy Man Who Lives Next Door over for a BBQ. We would grill up some meat and have a big ol' feast. After we finished eating, we might even toss the humans a few table scraps. Then after dinner, all five of us would cuddle together on the couch and watch America's Funniest Home Videos. Sorry Mom & Dad, but The Crazy Man is invited to that too. Then, we would go to bed and get some sleep so we could wake up early again tomorrow and do it all over again.

4. What is your favorite toy?
Duke: Every toy in the world is my favorite.
Gidget: Definitely my little stuffed lion. I can even make it roar!

5. If you could change one thing in your life, what would it be?
Hmmmm. That is a tough one. Some of our pals have come up with some pretty deep answers to this question. We, on the other paw, are nothing if not extremely shallow, so our answer will be that we wouldn't change a thing. After all, why would you want to mess with perfection?

Lazy Dogs

Hi everydoggy, Gidget here. We would like to say we are very sorry for our lack of posts recently, but we aren't very good at the whole apologizing thing. So we'll just skip that. But I can tell you that we have been very lazy lately. Especially Duke. He just mopes around muttering about how Suki dumped him. She even gave him the old "you'll always hold a special place in my heart" speech. Yep, poor old Duke has been looking pretty pathetic lately.

In other news, we still haven't met our new neighbor Brody face to face yet. But we have barked at him a lot. And for those of you who asked, yes, he does live with The Crazy Man Who Lives Next Door, but he actually "belongs" (and we use that word very loosely) to The Crazy Man Who Lives Next Door's Sister. We're still looking forward to meeting him, but we're not sure when that is going to be. We're also not sure what the heck we're waiting for, but we think it has something to do with our Mom's paranoia. But we'll be sure to keep you posted.

A New Neighbor

This is a picture of our new neighbor, Brody. We haven't met him face to face yet, we've only seen him over the fence. But we can assure everydoggy, he does have two eyes. You just can't see them in this picture. Brody is a four year old Siberian Husky mix, and he just moved in today. We were going to call him The Crazy Dog Who Lives Next Door, but he seems pretty mellow. Of course, he hasn't met us in person yet, so we'll see how mellow he is after he has to deal with two crazy pugs.

We've Got Crab Legs

A couple days ago, my hero The Crazy Man Who Lives Next Door came over, and he brought a big blue cooler with him. Normally, when The Crazy Man brings a cooler over, it is usually filled with beer. But this time, there was something alive in there.

Yep, it was full of crabs! For those doggies that don't know what a crab is, it's a really hard fish with claws on its legs. Duke and I checked them out thoroughly.

Duke even tried to sniff one of the crabs butts, but he couldnt find it.

Apparently, The Crazy Man Who Lives Next Door caught these crabs in a dungeon, because they are called Dungeon-est crabs. (Dukes edit: Actually, they are called Dungeness crab, and The Crazy Man caught them in Puget Sound) That Crazy Man sure is brave to go into a dungeon filled with crabs! In fact, The Crazy Man is so cool that he even ate the crabs while they were still alive! (Dukes edit: No, he didn't eat them while they were still alive. Pull your head out of your pug-butt Gidget)

Then, after The Crazy Man ate a few of the crabs, he threw the rest of them into a big pot of boiling water. I kinda felt bad for those poor crabs, until he took them out and we all enjoyed a big crab feast. Then, I didn't feel so bad for them anymore. Once again, The Crazy Man Who Lives Next Door has proven why he is the coolest human on the face of the earth. You rule The Crazy Man!

Time Capsule Tagged

Hi everydoggy, Duke here. Our buddy Sherman has tagged me to list 5 things I would put in a time capsule for the benefit of future Dogs. I have to admit, this was a pretty tough one. I wouldn't want to put anything in there that I would miss, so that immediately disqualified all of my toys, and anything edible. So here is what I came up with for my time capsule.

1. A picture of my tongue. I would want the future generations of dogs to see what a real pug tongue should look like. I know it's kinda cheating to just use a picture, but hey, I would really miss my tongue.
2. Our stupid wading pool. This would show the future generations of dogs what our Mom & Dad used to torture us with. And also, I would LOVE to get rid of that damn pool.
3. Poop. Some of the poop's I leave are masterpieces, and should probably be in a museum somewhere. So that would be perfect for the time capsule.
4. The Crazy Man Who Lives Next Door. This was a tough one, cause I would definitely miss him, but I figure he could benefit the future generations of dogs by showing the future generations of humans the proper butt scratching technique.
5. My sister Gidget. I don't know if she would benefit the future generations of dogs, but she could at least keep The Crazy Man company. And one less mouth to feed would mean more treats for me!

So anyway, that's what I would leave in my time capsule. Now I have to tag 3 more doggies, so I would like to tag Winston, Suki, and Newton. What would you guys leave behind for the future?

Giant Fish Update

The Crazy Man Comes Through

A couple weeks ago, we posted about a giant steelhead trout that The Crazy Man Who Lives Next Door killed. Apparently Duke hurt his feelings when he said that he would be cooler if he had shared some of his fish with us. Well last night, The Crazy Man made up for it. He came over with a giant hunk of king salmon that he killed (Duke's edit: actually, a friend of his caught it) in the Columbia river, and he gave Duke and I a huge chunk of it. We devoured it so fast that Mommy and Daddy couldn't even get any pictures of us eating it. But here is a picture of the salmon before The Crazy Man cut it up.

Duke's edit: I believe this picture is actually of a giant catfish, and has absolutely nothing to do with the salmon that The Crazy Man gave us. Gidget is so smitten with The Crazy Man that it sometimes impares her judgement. But that salmon sure was delicious. I take back every bad thing I ever said about you The Crazy Man.

Our Cousin The All-Star

This is a photo of our cousin Cameron, who just happens to be the star pitcher on his little league baseball team. Cam's team won their district tournament, and tomorrow they start play in the state championship tournament. Hopefully they can keep on winning and make it all the way to the little league world series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Even though Cameron is kinda scared of us, we are very, very proud of him. So keep going strong Cam, and remember, there are two little pugs who will be cheering their heads off for you!

Frosty Paws Recipe

Our buddy Newton wanted to know what recipe we used to make our frosty paws, so we thought we would post it just in case anydoggy else wanted to know too. But remember, we are in no way professionals, and this recipe is just the way that we like to do it.

Ingredients:

2 cups plain yogurt

1 cup all natural unsalted peanut butter

2 bananas (lightly mashed)

shredded carrots (about a handful)

Mix yogurt and carrots together in a large bowl. Add the bananas. Remember to mash them lightly. We love finding banana chunks in there. Lightly mix in the peanut butter, reserving some for later. Then, spoon the mixture into the freezing container. We have a flexible cupcake pan that works great, but we also use those small round Glad storage containers. Then, add a dollop of the reserved peanut butter, and swirl it around with a toothpick. We love peanut butter swirls! Then put the containers in the freezer and wait for them to freeze. After they freeze, we also like to let them sit out for a few minutes to soften a little before we eat them. The last step is putting them in a bowl and devouring them. That is of course our favorite step.

So anyways, that is our recipe. It isn't an exact science, but it works for us. Also sometimes as an added treat we'll cut up some Pupperoni lean and throw it in there too. However, if you're trying to diet (like Gidget), you might wanna just leave the extra stuff out. We hope everydoggy enjoys them as much as we do!

Who's Been Sleeping In My Bed?

It sure was nice of Mommy & Daddy to buy me my very own doggie bed so I don't have to jump up onto the couch quite as much. I really appreciated it. And apparently, so did Duke. As you can see from these photos, "my" bed has pretty much met the same fate as "my" toys. It is now officially Duke's property. You know, I wouldn't mind it quite so much if he didn't stick his tongue out at me while he is stealing my bed.

This is one of the reasons that I love The Crazy Man Who Lives Next Door so much. He actually goes out and kills his own food. Look at this giant Steelhead Trout that he single handedly killed. I think he actually swam out into the ocean (Duke's edit: it was a river) and beat this fish to death with his bare hands (Duke's edit: he used a fishing pole). That Crazy Man sure is a cool guy (Duke's edit: he would be cooler if he had shared some of his fish with us, but he does give great butt scratches).

Gidgey Update & Frosty Paws

Hi everydoggy, thanks for all the kind words about my bum knee. I just wanted to give you all a quick update and let you know how I have been doing.

My knee doesn't bother me much during typical day to day activities. I can still jump on and off the couch with no problem, and I can still trot around just fine. It's when I try to run that I have a problem. Duke still tries to get me to chase him, but as soon as I take a couple steps towards him, I remember that it's gonna hurt, so I stop and just stand there. That usually infuriates Duke even more.

We have pretty much decided that I am gonna have the surgery, we're just going to wait a while until Daddy can take some time off from work and stay home with me. I am not really looking forward to it, I hear the recovery can be pretty painful. Hopefully I can score some good drugs to help me get through it. And when I'm all better, I'm gonna give my bully brother the butt kicking of a lifetime.

In other news, tonight Duke and I got to try our very first Frosty Paws, and we loved them! They had yogurt, peanut butter, bananas, and carrots in them. They were sooooo yummy! For some reason, Daddy decided to put my bowl in the grass. This pictures shows how I had to strain my neck to eat my frosty paw without stepping in the grass.

And this picture shows that Duke has absolutely no manners whatsoever. He took his frosty paw out of his bowl and ate it right off the ground.

That Dukie sure is a slob. And those frosty paws sure were good. Hopefully Mommy & Daddy will make us some more real soon. Oh and Duke, I think you have some yogurt on your chin.

RIP Doggy Daily News

Last night was a very sad night here at the Duke & Gidget household. My new favoritest toy, The Doggy Daily News was badly maimed during a play session, and it had to be put down. I am just heartbroken. I know that we were only together for a few days, but those days were filled with joy and happiness. Hi everydoggy, Duke here. I just wanted to tell you all a little more about my new favoritest toy, The Doggy Daily News.

At first, I wasn't very interested in it. But once I started playing with it, I totally loved it! In fact, I haven't put it down since. It looks like a newspaper, and it even sounds like a newspaper, but it's a toy. And it squeaks. Which is really a must have in any toy, if you ask me. And the best part about it is that the middle is hollow. And sometimes when I am playing with it, a treat magically appears inside of it! How cool is that? I just wish it was a little easier to get the treat out of it, but I am starting to figure that out. One time I shook it so hard that the treat came shooting out of it and almost hit Dad right in the head. I guess I had better be a little more careful. Cuz you know what they say, it's only funny until somebody gets hurt. Then, it's hilarious.

Not The News We Were Hoping For

Hi Everydoggy. Duke here. Gidget asked me to give you all an update on her luxating patella. She is a little bummed out right now and doesn't really feel like talking. She had her leg re-checked yesterday, and unfortunately, it hasn't gotten any better. She thought it had, but that is probably because she hasn't been running around at all. Apparently her patella is still "popping out all over the place" to quote Dr. Bruhn. He recommended that she have surgery to repair it. Mom & Dad plan on getting a second opinion, and exploring all the options before they make a decision though. The recovery sounds pretty painful, and they want to make sure surgery is absolutely necessary before they put Gidget through that. As for me, well, I guess I'm gonna have to get used to chasing myself around for a while longer.

Gidget also wanted to thank Pug Mommy and Raoul's Mom for all the info and advice they have given us. We really appreciate all their help. Oh and she also wants to thank Norman for calling her a sexy lady. I had never seen a pug blush before until Gidget read that comment.

Yep, that's me looking all slim and trim. Dr. Bruhn suggested that if I drop a few pounds, it just might help my leg problem. So I've been dieting, and I must say, I am looking pretty hot! Duke just might have to stop calling me "Sausage Body". And "the Michelin Pug". That Duke can be so insensitive sometimes. Oh and the other thing you can tell from this picture is that Daddy really needs to stain the deck!

Speaking of Dr. Bruhn, I go back tomorrow to get my leg re-checked. It has been feeling pretty good lately, so I'm hoping he'll tell me I don't need to have surgery, and I can get back to doing what I do best. Kicking Duke's butt.

Duke: The Story Behind The Story

Hi everydoggie! A few of you left comments on our last post regarding my life before I came to live with Mom & Dad, and Pug Mommy was curious about how I came to live with them. Well, it might not be the most interesting story in the world, but here it is. And no Norman, I was not a "Junkyard Dog". But I wish I was, that sounds kinda cool.

When I was really little, I lived with another human family. The little humans in that family loved me, and I loved them too. But unfortunately, they already had two other dogs, and those dogs did not love me. Especially a mean old Beagle, who used to pick on me and beat me up all the time. It's kind of embarrassing to admit now, but it's true. I'm quite sure that if I was to run into that mean old Beagle now, I would rip him a new one. But back then, I was just a little guy.

So anyway, the big human decided that I would come and stay at his work, which just happened to be a used car lot. And as if being around a bunch of used car salesmen wasn't bad enough, the lot was right on Highway 99, which is a busy four lane highway. Twice I was able to escape from the lot, and run around on the highway. Chasing those cars around was great fun, but in retrospect, probably not a very wise choice. Amazingly, I was uninjured.

Around this time, Mom and Dad decided that they wanted another pug to keep Gidget company when they were away at work. They heard about me, and Mom hurried over to meet me. Well, it was love at first sight, and after paying the big human a sizeable transfer fee (I believe it was somewhere around 4 or 5 million dollars), the rest, as they say, is history. So like I said, it's not the most interesting tale, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Tagged Again! 7 Pawsome Facts

Our buddy Ronin tagged us to list seven pawsome facts about us. We are pretty sure that we are the last doggies left to list our seven pawsome facts, but hey, we always try to be fashionably late. So without further ado, here are our seven pawsome facts, in no particular order.

Gidget

1. I absolutely hate riding in the backseat of the car. I will whine and cry the whole way until somebody lets me up front.
2. Nobody is ever allowed to kiss my face. I will give kisses, but under no circumstances do I receive kisses.
3. I have had my picture on the TV twice. Both times I was featured on the KCPQ Morning News petwalk forecast.
4. I had a cancerous bump removed from my shoulder about 15 months ago. I have been cancer-free since then.
5. I hate when we have guests over, and then they leave. I will bark and jump all over them to try and get them to stay. Especially The Crazy Man Who Lives Next Door.
6. My name used to be Miss Beasley. The breeder that my Mommy & Daddy got me from was originally planning on keeping me, and she gave me that name. I think I prefer Gidget.
7. I love to tease humans. When they are sitting down, I will put my front paws on them like I want up. Then, when they reach down to pick me up, I jump back so that I am just out of reach. Then when they sit back in their chair, I do the whole thing over again.

And now Duke

1. I love to eat grass. Yum.
2. I like to pee on weeds that are growing in our yard. Especially dandelions.
3. I often fall asleep with a toy in my mouth.
4. I have a brother named Rocky. He is a bird. I would really like to eat Rocky.
5. I am a total daddy's boy. Wherever my Daddy goes, I gotta be right on his heels at all times.
6. I used to live on a Used Car Lot, right next to a busy four-lane highway. I prefer it here.
7. My Mom says I am the happiest doggy she has ever seen.

Three Pugz and More

Some of you may remember Pugsley, Buster, and Chloe the Princess Pug from the blog "Three Pug Mugs". Well, last summer their blog was hijacked. And then, tragically, on August 17th, Chloe the Princess Pug passed over to the rainbow bridge. If you don't know Chloe's story, you should head over to her Dogster page and check it out. She was an inspiration to us, and we still think of her often.

Well today, we are so happy to have learned that Pugsley, Buster, Chloe, and their new sister Cricket have a new blog. It is called Three Pugz & More, and we hope everyone will head on over and welcome them back to the blogging world. We sure have missed you guys, and we're so glad you're back!

Happy Blogiversary To Us

We don't usually like to toot our own horn (yeah, right), but today just happens to mark the one year anniversary of "A Tail Of Two Pugs". When we started this little blog, we weren't sure if we would make it a month, let alone a whole year. But amazingly, one year and nearly 16,000 hits later, we're still going strong. OK, maybe not strong, but at least semi-consistent. We have to admit, it has been a struggle sometimes finding the time to blog in between our frequent naps. But it has definitely been worth every minute of it. And the best part of it all would have to be all the amazing, wonderful doggie friends that we have made. You guys are the greatest, and we would like to give each and every one of you a big giant sloppy kiss. Thanks for being our pals, and we look forward to many more years of "A Tail Of Two Pugs"

Celebrity Look-a-likes

Duke and I have a couple of outstanding tags we need to address, and since we are lazy dogs, we thought we would address the easiest one first. But don't worry Ronin and Nico, we'll get to your tag in our next post.

Our best buddy Winston tagged us to post a picture of our celebrity look-a-likes. Duke's was pretty obvious.....

It could only be........Gene Simmons of the rock group Kiss. Besides the obvious similarity, they both have black hair (I'm not so sure if Gene's is natural though) and they both think they are ladies men.

Mine was even easier.....

The late Princess Diana. She was blonde and so am I. And everybody always tells me that I am a princess too. Not to mention the fact that we both dress so very elegantly.

I could also mention the fact that Princess Diana got stuck living with a dork for most of her life and so did I, but I didn't want to make Duke feel bad. So I'll just leave that part out.
