Cryin' And Whinin'
Gidget is such a weirdo. Whenever she gets a big treat, she walks around with it hanging out her mouth, crying like a baby. It's like she feels bad about eating it or something. Mom and Dad think it's so cute. I just think she is wacko.

Do any of our doggy buddies out there do this too? Or is Gidget the only weirdo who does this?

Hmmm...no, I do not do this. Are those Dentastix?? I love them!
Gidget, we need to talk. Treats are made to be eaten, not cried over. They were made with one purpose: to go into your tum-tum!
Puggy kisses

My pug does this too. I have figured out that it means he likes the treat but doesn't want to eat it right then. He cries cause he needs to hide it but doesn't know where and needs me to help him. Is anyone else afraid that I analyze my pug like this? Hee Hee
Suki, yep, those are dentastix alright. We love them too. They smell and feel kind of like compressed cardboard, but they sure are good.
Butchy and Snickers, I agree with you guys and Suki too. Treats are meant to be eaten as fast as possible. Sometimes Gidget will walk around with her treat crying for an hour before she eats them. I usually end up locked outside during this, so I don't steal it from her.
Mr. Anonymous, Gidget is glad to know she isn't the only pug who does this. And that does sound like a pretty good explanation for her behaviour. But yes, we do think you analyze your pug too much. This makes you a certifiable crazy pug person, just like our Mom & Dad!
Yes! Winston and Sela have done this as well! Mainly Winston, and its sooo funny 'cause it's like he's looking for a place to bury it (and keep it away from Sela!) Once, before Sela, we actually found a pig's ear buried in a pile of my clothes while I was folding them. (Note: this was back in college when I was messy and let me laundry sit in a pile for several days...I now do my laundry right away.)
The cutest part is, once he finds a spot, say, in between the couch cushions, he'll push over the cushions with his nose like he's trying to cover it with dirt.
I haven't had dentastix yet, Mom thought I was too little. Maybe now she'll let me try them. For now I get cookies and scarf it down as quickly. This way, maybe Mom will forget she gave it too me and give me another one. After all, they are little cookies.
Sounds like something hormonal to me. Wimmin!

Gidget, you are so cute and funny! My humans loved the video! I don't react like that when I get a new treat but I look like crazy... looking for a place to bury it...
I have to admit that I do this too. I think there is a certain amount of anxiety related to the pressure of enjoying a treat. Woman always tells me to "stop being a titty and eat your treat." Isn't that a rude thing to call me? A titty?
Two seconds before I clicked on the play button all the dogs were sleeping around my feet - now they're running around the house trying to find the crying dog!!! ; )
omgosh! do i hear gidget sniffing too?? that's sooo weird. so, when is gidget get into action of actually eating the treat??
you know, gidget might be just too glad to get treat!
wet wet licks

Hi Duke & Gidget!
WE are Pebble & Yuki.
You guys really have a great owners. We had a great time reading your blog.
Gidget is really cute. He is the first dog I have ever seen whining even after it has gotten his toy. I wonder why he whines... =\
Oh Gidget I understand your cries. I do the same thing---- it takes me a long time to actually settle down to my Jumbone. I must wander around crying for the first 15 minutes until I find the perfect spot. My dentastix normally get eaten a little quicker! My baby bro Boscoe just eats everything in sight... he is an 11 pound piggy!
Puggy Easter!
Pyrite
Lola does that! It's usually because she wants someone to hold it for her while she chews or she wants it broken into bite size pieces. And yes, she's spoiled.
Love,
Kelly
That's cute. It sounds like she does need some help finding a good hiding place. Pork & Brown have never done this...they are too busy devouring the treat to do anything else! My Piggies...uummm...I mean Puggies, enjoy extreme immediate gratification.
Hope you guys had a grea Easter!
Pork, Brown, & Mom
That is too funny. Maggie does that with treats and Napoleon does it with one of his toys. He walks around crying and won't get close enough let anyone take it away or play with him. Weirdo pugs.
Hey Gidget-your long distance godmother here. I know your Mom and Dad are great owners. Just wanted to say once I had one of my pug kids do this-turns out she had a tooth that was bothering her. Agter that was fixed, no more whining. But, again could be your anxiety of your brother getting it before you have a hiding place(bet he steals from ya,hu?)Those boys!! Hugs and sloppy puglett kisses!!
Thanks for all the input everybody.
Godmommy, Gidget just recently had her teeth cleaned and checked out, so we doubt if that is what causes it. Most likely, it is a combination of everything else. That and she is just a really weird Pug. Thanks again everybody!
Duke
Dakota cries all the time. She even cries if we're walking and I stop to sniff a tree. Girls are weird.
