Puppymill Auction Update

There is an update on the Seattle Pug Rescue website regarding the Puppymill Pugs they are trying to rescue:

Update 2-27-2007 We have found out now that there are 3 Males and 8 Females at this point. 2 of the girls are 8 years old! Some of the 8 are Bred! We will keep them safely and raise their puppies in safe hands. They will all be spayed and neutered and then placed in safe homes within our Rescue to stop these from further becoming Puppymill tragedies. One of them we will be bidding on is only 3 months old. We are able to do this through all of your Generous Donations!! Thank you so much!

They have also put up a page to track the progress they are making in reaching their goal of $5000, and to list everybody who has made a donation. They are over half way there, but there is still a long way to go. If anybody would like to help out, it is still not too late to make a donation for this very worthy cause. Thanks.

We would also like to point out that we are not in any way affiliated with Seattle Pug Rescue. We just really like the work that they do. And we also think that every doggie should have a chance at a happy life, and not just be cooped up in a crate churning out babies their whole life.

Thanks again, Duke & Gidget

Our Exciting Weekend

Since Gidget and I whined about not having enough excitement in our lives, Dad promised to do lots of fun stuff with us this past weekend. But then, of course, it rained all weekend. So I guess our dog park trip will have to wait until next week. We did, however, get to take a car ride around the lake. We love car rides almost as much as walks, and they are far less strenuous. So that was pretty cool. And then, he even took us to Petsmart. That was lots of fun, until we realized we were there to buy shampoo. Buying shampoo could only mean one thing. Bathtime. Yuk. That wasn't exactly what we meant by excitement. And does it really make any sense to spend the whole weekend trying to keep us out of the rain, and then he goes and throws us in a tub full of water?? I sure wish I could figure these humans out....

Dinner Time

Here are a couple of videos showing Duke and I waiting for Daddy to prepare our dinner. The 2nd video might give you the impression that I am a very impatient pug. But I just can't help it. Daddy takes such a long time preparing our meals. And hey, at least I don't make out with the dishwasher. Hehehe.

We're Not Lazy!

Mommy and Daddy have been saying that Duke and I have been acting very lazy lately. Well, maybe we have been spending a lot of time lounging around on the couch the past couple weeks. But what they don't seem to understand is that we can't very well drive ourselves to the dog park. Or to a Pug meetup. Or to Doggy Haven. Heck, we can't even call up The Crazy Man Who Lives Next Door and invite him over for beers and butt scratches. We sure would like to do all those things, but we can't. So unless we can get SOMEBODY to do those things for us, we are just going to continue snoozing on the couch. Get the message Mommy & Daddy??

Puppymill Auction. Please Help

This was taken directly off the Seattle Pug Rescue website:

Breaking News!!!
There is a Puppymill Auction in South Dakota on 3-4-2007. We are trying to raise the resources to go get these Pugs!! There are no Big Pug Rescues there. There are 6 Females and 2 Males to be auctioned off. Some of these girls may have Litters or may be Bred. This will take ALOT of Resources and care! We will be bidding on them and sending a vehicle with hopefully 2 or 3 volunteers to bring them back and care on the road for them. This will be a HUGE undertaking, but we know we can do it to help rescue these Pugs. We are accepting Financial Donations through the PayPal Link below as well as Blankets, Crates, Toys or anything you can help with. Thank you so much for your help with this and we will keep everyone updated on the progress of this. If you donate through Pay Pal, please let us know it is for the Puppymill Auction or for a specific Dog.

If you would like to help, please click on Seattle Pug Rescue to make a donation. Hopefully, we can help them get the resources they need to find these Pugs their forever home. Remember, there is no better feeling than helping out a Pug in need. Thanks!

Stupid Human Tricks

Some of you may recall that a few months back I was trying to teach Dad a new trick. He would get down on all fours and I would climb up on his back. It was going pretty good until Gidget tried to bite his ear off. Well, I am happy to report that after months of training, and several slices of reward pizza, the old man finally seems to have it down, as you can clearly see from this picture. Hmmm.... I guess you can teach an old human new tricks!

Meatballs

Last night something totally amazing happened. When Mom & Dad finished their dinner, there were two meatballs left in the pan. Mom was just going to throw them away, but then Dad said "why don't we give them to the furry kids". We didn't get our hopes up though, because Mom is a little less lenient than Dad, especially when it comes to our food. But then, to our utter dismay, she wiped the excess sauce off of them, chopped them into bite size pieces, and gave them to us. Wow, what a treat! I don't think I have ever seen Gidget eat so fast before. She actually finished her meatball before I did, which totally shocked Mom & Dad. I wasn't too surprised though. Those little balls of meat sure were tasty. Now, if only Dad could talk Mom into letting us sit at the table and eat dinner with them life would be perfect. Hey, a Pug's gotta dream you know.....

Not So Super Sunday

Duke and I were very disappointed with yesterday's Super Bowl. And it didn't have anything to do with the game. We figured that the Super Bowl meant a bunch of humans drinking too much beer and eating too much food. For some reason humans, beer, and food always means lots of opportunities for Duke and I to score some stray munchies. So we were all set for the big party.
But then, the strangest thing happened. The game started, and nobody came over. Mommy and Daddy just sat there watching the game by themselves! Even the Crazy Man Who Lives Next Door wasn't here. We were shocked! Are Mommy and Daddy getting too old to party on a Sunday? Apparently so. Finally, the Crazy Man Who Lives Next Door showed up. "OK, now the party is going to start", we thought. But all they did was cook a pizza and drink soda pop. Duke and I didn't even get a piece of pepperoni! C'mon people, this was the Super Bowl! If next years party is this lame, Duke and I are going to a sports bar.

A New Month

Well, January is over and we only put up a total of five posts all month. That was partly because we were away at Doggy Haven for a week and a half, but also partly because we were lazy dogs. Consequently, we have decided to post more often this month. So to kick off the new month we thought we would introduce you to some of our family from Massachusetts.

This is our nephew Jason. He is going to be a famous Rock Star one day. We had lots of fun chasing Jason around the yard when he visited us last spring.

This is our beautiful niece Jillian. She is only five and a half months old. Mom and Dad tell us that she is a little sweetheart. We can't wait to meet her in person.

And finally, this is us being lazy. Just in case anybody thought I was kidding about the lazy dog comment.
