We Swam ... Kinda

So Mom had this brilliant idea to spend some of her birthday money on doggy life preservers. I sure wish she had just bought clothes like any normal woman would have done!

This is me getting ready. I had no idea what I was in for...

Gidget getting ready. Notice how happy she looked?

Mark Spitz I ain't!

Gidget was paddling for shore before she even hit the water.

All in all it was a pretty fun day, but I think Mom & Dad had more fun than we did.

A Full Day

Today was a very fun day. First, we went to a birthday party for our human cousin, Michael (Happy Birthday Mike!). We got to hang out with all of our human relatives, and Duke got to leave his mark on everything in the yard. We also got to meet two chihuahuas named Tina and Charlie. They didn't really look like any dogs we had ever seen before, but we sniffed them up and can confirm, they definitely are dogs. They were pretty uptight at first, but eventually they warmed up to us. Also, they made us feel like big dogs, which was a first for Duke and I.

After the party, we went to PetSmart where Mom & Dad bought us doggy life preservers. Apparently, we are going for a swim in Lake Stevens tomorrow. We are not real sure about this whole concept, as we are firm believers that water and pugs do not mix. But hey, if it makes them happy, we'll give it a shot. If we know Dad, he will probably take a couple hundred pictures of this adventure, so be sure to check back and find out if we sink or swim. I sure hope we swim!

Born To Be Wild

You might know me as the "sweet one" in the family, but I also have a bad side. Duke isn't the only one kickin' ass and takin' names around here, ya know. Every once in a while I get the urge to tip back a few and "head out on the highway". In fact, I'm kinda getting that urge right now. Where did I leave my hog?

Deep Thoughts By Duke & Gidget

Life is like a dog-sled team. If you ain't the lead dog, the scenery never changes.

Backyard Futbol

Dad spent the weekend yelling at a bunch of humans kicking a ball around on the TV. Apparently just watching soccer for 16 solid hours wasn't enough for the old man, so he decided to get a game going in the backyard. We needed one more player, so we invited our buddy Emmy.
Emmy is a cute little Bishon who lives across the street. I think Emmy has a thing for me, then again who could blame her.... she's cute, don't get me wrong, but remember, I like the "larger ladies".

Poor Birdie

It's another rainy day today, and it seems to have everybody pretty bummed out. Even the birds are depressed about it. At least, this one is. He has been hanging out on our back porch all morning. We're not sure if he is injured or if he heard that Rocky was laying eggs and came to check him/her out. Dad tried giving him some seeds, but he just sits there and chirps. I hope he gets better and flies away soon, cuz I will have to go out there sooner or later. And when I do, if he is still there, I will have to attack. I am Duke, that's what I do.

Gidget Vs Froggy

Gidget and I were watching home videos today and we came across this little nugget. It was taken before I was born, back when Gidget was just a baby and Mom & Dad lived in something they refer to as "the old apartment".

Gidget thinks she won this epic battle, but personally I think that Mr. Frog got the better of her.

Here's Rocky

This is a picture of me with our brother Rocky. Well actually, he used to be our brother until he started laying eggs. Now, I believe he is our sister. Rocky used to live downstairs in the family room with us, but not anymore. It seems Duke decided that he just might make a nice little snack. Fortunately for The Rock, Duke was unsuccessful in his quest for poultry. So now, he/she lives upstairs where he/she is safe from Dukes prying jaws. Sorry Duke, I guess a spicy chicken burger just isn't on the menu.

The New Door

That's right. It's our new Duke tested and Gidget approved front door. Duke and I just love this thing, and not just because we got to go to Doggy Daycare while it was being installed. Now, we can sit in front of this new storm door and watch (and bark at) everybody who goes by. And also, everyone can see how pretty I am and how annoying Duke is. No longer will we get yelled at for jumping up on "the nice couch" to look out the window. And we will NEVER understand why it is OK to jump on the couch downstairs but not OK to jump on the couch upstairs. You humans can be so confusing.

Must See TV

Check out my latest video. This is me practicing for the 2008 Pug Olympics. I plan on entering in the high jump. You'll notice it took me a few tries to get up on Dad's back. The truth is, I was only setting the old man up so Gidget could get into position to bite his ear. Mission accomplished.

Happy Birthday Mommy!

Duke and I are very excited because today is our mommy's birthday! We think she is the best mommy in the world and to show her how much we love her Duke and I have some special treats for her. I am giving her my favorite squeaky toy and Duke is giving her his rope toy. And to top it off we even made her an alpo birthday cake with milk bone candles! Unfortunately Duke ate the cake before we could give it to her but hey, it's the thought that counts. Happy Birthday Mommy!

Look Into Our Eyes

Look into our eyes. Look deep into our eyes. You are getting very, very sleepy. When we count to three and snap our fingers you will awaken. You will go into the kitchen. You will open the pantry door. You will take ALL the dog treats off the shelf and pour them out onto the floor. You will then leave the room. OK, 1, 2, 3..... Oh Damn! We don't have fingers!! grrrrrr

Wednesday Night Is Lost Night

It's Wednesday night and that means our favorite show is on: LOST. I know it is only a rerun, but we don't care. That show totally rocks. The only thing we don't like about it is that bad, bad man Michael. We used to think he was pretty cool, but not anymore. And not just because he betrayed the rest of the castaways. I mean can you believe he actually took off on a boat and left his dog Vincent behind? What is this guy thinking? Bad, bad human.

One Tired Pug

Mom and Dad had a new front door installed today, so they gave us a choice: we could stay home and bark at the door installer dude, or we could go to Doggy Haven for daycare. Barking at the installer did sound pretty fun, but we opted for daycare anyway. So here are a couple of pictures, one of me and Gidget on the way to daycare, and one of me on the way home from daycare. Notice any difference between the two?

Gidget's First Greenie

Today was a pretty good day. Got in a whole bunch of lounging time and Mommy and Daddy brought us home a new treat....my very first Greenie! It was a little too hard for me at first (I have a dainty little mouth you know) so they warmed it up to soften it for me. It was pretty yummy and I savored this new delicacy for about 20 minutes. Duke on the other hand inhaled his in about 5 minutes....Barbarian!

I just hope it doesn't turn my poop green, how totally embarrassing that would be!

Saturday Night Fire

Last night was a pretty nice night here in Lake Stevens (translation: it wasn't raining) so Mom and Dad decided to sit around the firepit (as you can see from my two most recent markings, I like to use it as my own personal fire hydrant).

Gidget and I really enjoy fire nights because they always mean serious lap time. All we have to do is get our furry little butts a little too close to the fire and boom we are in a lap. And with two laps to choose from there is never any waiting.

Today the weather is pretty much back to normal (translation: it's raining) so Gidget and I are going to spend most of the day lounging on the couch. Neither one of us is very fond of the rain. In fact, we have been lobbying Mom and Dad for a move to Arizona, but so far we have had no luck with that endeavor. I guess we will just have to get used to pooping in the rain!

Rewind Part Deux

This is me at 10 weeks old with my very first toy. I have had to have it replaced three times since Duke moved in. Apparently Duke can't tell the difference between a toy burger and a real burger!

Do I smell milkbones? OK, where you hiding 'em!

This is what I look like now.

Rewind

This is me at 6 months old. I had been helping mom fold the laundry.

This is me at 2 years old macking on my lady friend Kahlua. As you can see I like the larger ladies.

This is what I look like now. Aren't I smooth!

Hello From Gidget

Hello,
My name is Gidget. First off let me just say that 99% of everything that Duke says is BS. So remember to always take his commentary with a grain of salt. You see, I am the sweet one in the family and Duke is the rambunctious trouble maker. My favorite things are cuddling with a human (pretty much any human will do), eating, and going to Doggie Daycare. Duke's favorite things are eating, chewing on shoes, and antagonizing me. He is extremely adept at the latter as you will surely see. Be sure to check back often to find out what kind of trouble he is getting into, and to see just how cute a pug can be. A FAWN pug that is ....

Welcome To Our Blog!

Hello,
My name is Duke. I am a 3-year old black pug happily residing in the bustling metropolis of Lake Stevens, Washington. I live here with my sister Gidget and my mom and dad. Gidget is a (spoiled rotten) 4-year old fawn pug. She isn't really my sister, but that is what my mom and dad call her, and if that makes them happy, I'm all for it. Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure they aren't really my mom and dad, but that's another story altogether. Anyhoo, welcome to the blog. We hope you come back often to check out our many misadventures!
